A move from Sports City to Motor City, or from one building to another inside the community, is short on the road and long everywhere else. Two permits, two sets of rules, two time windows. People sometimes expect a short move to need a smaller crew over a longer day, but the lift slot at each end does not stretch, so the crew size stays much the same as for a longer drive.
What a short distance does allow is flexibility in how we load. For a move within the area we can sometimes run two smaller loads instead of one large one, which helps where a loading area only takes a medium truck. We check that with both buildings before quoting, as some prefer a single vehicle on site at a time.
Big events at the sports venues can fill the roads in the evening, so we avoid a late finish on those days when the date is flexible. Mornings suit most moves anyway: cooler air, quieter lifts and beds rebuilt by the afternoon. In the hotter months our guide to moving in summer explains how we protect furniture and electronics from the heat.
