JLT has plenty of studios and one bedroom flats, and with metro stations close by, some residents do not keep a car at all. That changes how a move works. There is no car boot for the fragile things and the plants, and no quick trip back for a forgotten bag. Register the new tenancy through Ejari once the contract is signed, as many buildings want to see it before a move-in permit is granted. A weekday clear of the month end, if your lease allows it. That is when service lift slots in JLT towers are easiest to get, because the month end is when leases across Dubai finish. In summer, ask the building for a morning slot, as the basement and the service road heat up quickly as the day goes on. For an office, the evening or a weekend is usually what building management prefers.
Book as soon as your dates are firm and apply for the permits straight away. In JLT the truck rarely causes delays. The lift slots do. If the old tower and the new one can only offer different days, that takes time to sort out and may mean storage for the gap. Month ends fill first, so give yourself more notice if your lease finishes then.
Move less and take on some of the work yourself. Sell or donate anything that will not suit the new home, pack the books, clothes and ornaments yourself and leave the kitchen and fragile items to us. A date away from the month end helps as well. For a studio or a few pieces of furniture, we send a smaller crew and a smaller truck, sized to the load rather than to the address.
