On a weekday morning the streets near the beach are quiet. When the weather is good and the weekend arrives, they fill with people heading for Kite Beach, cars park wherever there is space, and a truck backing up to a villa gate needs room it may not get. Where we can, we book Umm Suqeim moves for weekday mornings and keep weekends for when there is no other option.
From June to September we start as early as the neighbourhood allows and plan the loading so the truck is not standing full in the midday sun. Candles, vinyl records, medicines and anything that melts or warps should ride in your own car. Our summer moving guide lists what else to keep out of the truck and how to plan the day around the heat.
If you are leaving a rented villa, the last jobs are the keys and the utilities. Book the DEWA move out for the date the keys go back, so the final reading matches your handover, and photograph the meters once the crew has left. It makes the deposit conversation with your landlord much easier.
